The Salvation Army named Leading Business of the Week

When it comes to “doing good” in our community, The Salvation Army in Valdosta deserves some recognition. The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber has selected The Salvation Army as this week’s Leading Business of the Week on account of their strong partnership with the chamber and their good work here in the community.

“The Salvation Army has a long history of ‘Doing the Most Good’ with limited resources,” said Pamela Starr, co-commander of the local post. “We practice a high standard of integrity and use our resources and donations with that in mind.”

Pamela and her husband, Robin Starr, serve as the commanders of the Valdosta Salvation Army, a title earned after serving the organization for at least 15 years. The local post offers many services – from youth programs and church services to a family store and a men’s shelter – that focus on doing good right here in Valdosta-Lowndes County.

While the Starr family just moved to Valdosta last year, The Salvation Army has been a proud chamber member since 1996 and the Starrs’ can speak to the impact of the organization. “The chamber puts Valdosta at the forefront of the South Georgia & North Florida region,” notes Pamela. “They make sure that people know Valdosta is the place to be.”

Each week, the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber recognizes a business in our community to receive the Leading Business of the Week recognition. To learn more about the program, visit the chamber’s website. The chamber would like to extend a special thank-you to South Georgia Vein Center, the official 2015 Sponsor of the program.
