Greater Valdosta United Way Awarded by Chamber

VALDOSTA, GA – Greater Valdosta United Way, loyal chamber member since 1977, was awarded Leading Business of the Week.

Greater Valdosta United Way is a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing funds for programs in the local area. They have supported causes including education, health, income and homelessness.

United Way offers payroll deduction campaigns to make it easy for community members to give to their favorite charities. In fact, these campaigns offer the opportunity to donate to any nonprofit organization that exists in the world, although the local office encourages individuals to give to organizations that will benefit our local community.

That idea of helping locals is what Bobby Yarbrough, owner of the Greater Valdosta United Way, takes pride in. “United Way helps our community in many ways,” explained Yarbrough. “For example, families are being afforded the opportunity to become financially independent and women and children who are victims of assault are provided safe places to stay.”
